I've actually been back from Hong Kong for awhile now but I was always just too lazy to blog about my experience and to log in all my purchases like I've promised. This entry is long over due! I've had tons of fun on my trip despite the suffocating heat . I've been to  beautiful places and odd places alike. There is food vendors everywhere whether you're in a classier district or in a village. Hong Kong is truly unique and has its own flavor.

Here are some things I learned on my trip.

1) Always bring your own toilet paper because restaurants don't necessarily provide you with any. Oh and be prepared to squat when you "go" because they don't have seats.

2) Bargain for anything you're buying because the merchandise is almost always overpriced. If you're an inexperienced bargainer, wait for someone else to buy the same thing and ask for the same price right after.

3) Do not wear revealing clothing unless you want to be ogled by everyone. Especially on the bus or MTR. Seriously, it doesn't matter if you're flat as a board, man and woman alike will check you out.

4) Stand on the right side of the escalators if you're not walking, it is common courtesy over there.

5) Speak in English if you don't want to be sold anything. Salespeople pounce on you and never let go but once you converse in English they back away as if you've got leprosy.  

6) Check your merchandise before you hand over your hard earned cash! Sometimes the product is faulty and you won't find out until you get home. Then it'll be too late for you because there are no such things as exchanges or guarantees for vendors.

7) Wear super comfortable shoes because you'll be literally walking all day.

8) Bring a light cardigan or jacket no matter how hot it is because the A/C there is blasting in every building 24/7.

9) When getting off a taxi always leave on the left side because cab drivers get really touchy about it. I don't really get why. But when I did he called me a mainlander. (Not to be racist but I think he was.)

10) Don't bother being friendly by waving, greeting or smiling randomly at strangers because they'll think you're a freak. Everyone is always so busy going someplace. The streets are a blur of people.

Like I said, I visited some odd places. This place was called "Modern Toilet" and we sat on toilets and at out of toilet bowls. I had curry. It looked like number two if you know what I mean.

Eating at Stanley Beach for Mother's Day. It was one of the best French meals I've ever eaten. Decadent lime sorbet on top of a crisp apple tart dessert . Simply mouth watering. I want to relive that moment.

Nope I'm not in Japan. Sure looks like it though doesn't it? I was on a street in Hong Kong that was posing as a Japanese street. Heh.

Being a beach bum. We rented an umbrella and a chair.

Visiting quaint villages that are built over water. I was walking into people's houses by accident.

I went on top of the mountain to see the giant Buddha that was apparently built with NASA technology. As you can see I was also on Trapline 360. I was seated in a dangling cart for over 15 minuets listening to my aunts telling me how one of those carts recently plummeted a few hundreds feet down.

And of course shopping with my girlies.

I cannot stress how cool this restaurant it is! You have to board a ferry to get to it because it's on a boat! How cool is that? It is called Top Deck and when I was there I had the best desserts and hamburger I've ever tasted. The mocktail was to die for I tell you.

I cannot tell you how beautiful this garden is. It is located in the middle of the concrete jungle we know as Hong Kong. And smack dab in the middle of it is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The architecture is astounding and the landscape is so well maintained. The best part is that it's free!

I know this is an extremely long post but I didn't even post half the adventures I had. It was an awesome experience and I can't wait to go back! I miss Hong Kong.

Now on to the juicier stuff... and I do mean stuff. Lots of stuff! I bought so much in Hong Kong and here are just some of the things I lugged home.

This isn't all that I bought but it took forever to take all these pictures. Anyway you get the idea. I want to do more shopping!! But I did get everything on my list. Yay!

Oh I also bought a cellphone~! Although I didn't get it in Hong Kong. It's the beautiful N95 8GB. A little pricey but I think it is well worth it. I ordered Swarovski crystals at  www.artbeads.com to stick on it.

This is also currently my baby. My first Juicy Couture. I it! Since my pictures don't do it justice I got these pictures online. Mine is a lovely brown. The leather and gold hardware is oh so fabulous.

After writing this entirely too long of a blog I miss Hong Kong and my mom (who is still in HK) . I also want to eat and shop!!!

I am so laden with work these days. But I haven't actually been doing anything productive although I have TWO exams coming up. Extremely nervous about them. I mean we're talking Shakespeare and Grammar. I know it sounds easy and boring but it isn't! I swear!

But on to more exciting news! I'M GOING TO HONG KONG! How cool is that?

We're talking about Shopper's Paradise, fantastic nightlife, awesome cuisine and city lights.

Of course, it really is for my grandma. This time only my mother and I are going. The dad and Reenie Weenie (aka my sister) can't come due to scheduling problems. Ah well. I promised I'd buy stuff for them.

I plan to take loads of pictures. Hopefully it won't storm. I shall pray for sunny days! I'll log all my purchases. Here are a list of things I want to buy! But I'm really bad at bargaining! We'll see how I do. Hoho!

Did I mention that this will be my first time on the plane alone! I'm kinda worried. Yikes! It'll be worth it. I'm a globe trotter now! Hoho! One thing is for sure though. I'll gain 10 pounds when I come home!

I have confession to make. I am a mah jongholic. For those of you who don’t know what mah jong is… I pity you. It is a card game which originated from ancient China. But the “cards” are made out of ivory (now substituted with plastic) and has symbols and numbers as you would have in a deck of cards. It is a gambling game and could be played with chips and no money like poker. But yeah. I’m a mah jongholic… I decided to come clean and get it out to the public. Now you do know everything about  me… sort of…
